Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode 9: My Student Council
Seitokai no Ichizon is now up to episode 9! I've been pretty fed up with this anime as of late, but I wasn't as bothered by this episode. I don't know if I would call this one of the anime's better episodes, but it mixed things up, and that's what I need out of this anime the most.
The Chizuru plot this week felt a bit incongruous, but I still enjoyed it. I'm not sure if there's a parody I'm missing here or not, but I found it to be pretty well written and quite different from most of the stuff the show has been giving me. I'll take it over the same old jokes any day (although the Death Note reference made me giggle).
I know that this anime is based on a manfa, and I feel like it must have worked much better in the format. Picking it up for an occasional read seems perfect for Seitokai no Ichizon. Still, this episode was a nice little diversion. I didn't mind it!

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode 8: The Jealous Student Council
Seitokai no Ichizon moves closer to its ending with its 8th episode. I freely admit that I've gotten pretty sick of this anime, and I probably should've dropped it earlier in the season. Once I get beyond a certain point, I just feel obligated to finish stuff. However, in spite of that, I did really enjoy parts of this episode.
The scenes between Sugisaki and Elise were both adorable and hilarious, and I think it was some of the most entertaining stuff this anime has done. However, everything in between was peppered with more of the same old, same old. Once more of the characters were involved, I just wanted things to hurry up and finish. It's really a shame, because some of the games played in this episode were so funny. I want to be able to say I enjoyed it overall more than I did.
I've only got 5 episodes left of this one, and I plan to stick it out until things wrap up. If there are scenes like some of the ones in this episode mixed in with the repetitive stuff, I'm sure I'll be just fine. Maybe I'll try and get a few scenes on youtube so that people can enjoy them by themselves.

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode 7: The Forward-Moving Student Council
Onto episode 7 of Seitokai no Ichizon! This week's episode actually breaks up the mold a little when they send the student council members on a summer trip. Most of the humor is the same old, same old, but there are a few new and fun things here for those of you who've grown tired of this show.
I was pretty bored with the episode at the beginning, but as it progressed I feel it got away from the joke recycling and into something genuinely funny and different. I also have to commend this anime on making their fanservice feel more hilarious then over-the-top. I still feel like this is a pretty mediocre show overall, but that's something they've done well.
I'm now more than half-way through this anime, and I'm feeling a bit relieved. I'm glad this episode mixed things up a bit, but this show is still getting progressively harder and harder to blog. Still, this one got me to laugh, especially near the end, and that's saying something.

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episodes 5 and 6: The Intermission Student Council and The Helping Student Council
I've managed to fall a bit behind on Seitokai no Ichizon, so I went ahead and powered through the last two one after another. Episode 5 is the show's requisite swimsuit episode, while episode 6 features the student council actually doing some student council work. It manages to be much of the same regardless of this.
I'm really growing bored with this show. Both episodes had some really great references, episode 6 in particular, but so many of the other jokes repeat over and over and over again. After a while, Sugisaki proclaiming his desire for a harem stops being funny and starts becoming irritating.
Now that I'm pretty much half way through the show, I see no reason to stop it, but this definitely isn't going to be one I recommend. I do hope that they do something totally wild and different for the ending. In spite of the show's repetitiveness I can completely see them pulling something like that off. It would definitely help to keep the show's remainder interesting.

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode 4: The Creative Student Council
I've now reached Seitokai no Ichizon's fourth episode. While a lot of the show is still pretty repetitive, I thought this episode was a big step up from last week's. The plot of the episode is perfect for the style of the humor the show uses, and it was fun seeing a lot of the stuff it had to offer. I didn't laugh out loud as much as I had with some earlier episodes, but I still think this was a stronger episode overall.
I still don't feel like this is really my sort of show. I do enjoy the referential humor, but this anime has so much of the same in each episode. It's hard to stay interested even though I think this was probably the best episode of the series to date. I almost wish I'd seen this one first.
This show only has 13 episodes total, but 9 more episodes feels like a lot to me given the style of this show. I feel like maybe this one would've been better as a 3 episode OVA. I hope they manage to find a few more ideas like this one for the anime, as they make a perfect match.

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode 3: The Interviewed Student Council
Seitokai no Ichizon, the student council based referential comedy show, continues onto its third episode. This one mixes things up a bit by introducing a new character- another cute anime girl, of course. Fans of the show need not worry about the routine getting messed up, however. The show remains the same in spite of this.
This episode had a really nice running gag and a few really quotable lines, but it was pretty much the same thing that we've been in the last two episodes. Given the nature of the show I'm not sure I should really expect any development- the status quo remaining as is is pretty par for the course with this type of comedy. I'm just starting to get bored with some aspects of this anime, which makes it hard to keep interested when the other shows are just starting to get more interesting.
I never could get really into Lucky Star, so maybe I'm just not cut out for this type of comedy. I'm still entertained by Seitokai no Ichizon and I'll keep watching it, but if I feel the need to cut a show, this one is sadly the one that'll probably be the one to go. I just feel like I've probably seen most of what this anime has to offer. I hope next week's episode will change my mind.

Seitokai no Ichizon, Episode Two: The Studying Student Council
On we continue with the student council anime, Seitokai no Ichizon. Unsurprisingly, the second episode, The Studying Student Council, involves one of the main characters trying to study for mid-term exams, though people shouldn't expect the show to be very different from the first episode because of that. It is still full of the same sort of humor and conversational tangents as the previous episode.
Like the first episode of , the anime's second episode takes place almost entirely inside of the student council meeting room. It has much of the first episode's same referential humor, though I think this one had a few jokes that just about anyone could laugh at. I noticed while watching this time that Seitokai no Ichizon has a lot of jokes that fall flat, but because they're generally fired rapidly one after another, I still get regular laughs. I felt there were a few things that dragged on too long in this one, though. I preferred the wider variety we got in the premiere of the series.
I don't feel great about Seitokai no Ichizon, but it entertains. I've checked out most of the shows of this season and I don't think I'll be picking too many other shows up, so I'll probably keep following this one for awhile. If my schedule starts to get crowded, though, this will probably be one of the first shows to go. I don't mind watching it at all, but I don't think I would miss it if it was gone.

Seitokai no Ichizon Episode One: The Chatting Away Student Council
Seitokai no Ichizon is another comedy show to add to this season's pile. This one is a self-referential comedy that centers around a private school's student council. The council is made up of 4 cute girls, who won their spots through a popularity vote, and their one male member, Ken Sugisaki, who got in by being at the top of his class. Sugisaki is an avid fan of bishoujo games and has dubbed the ladies of the student council his harem.
This show is full of references to games and other anime, and if you're not terribly into that stuff, I imagine most of the show's humor won't be entertaining at all. The show takes place almost entirely in the room that student council meetings are held in, and is very much a "nothing happens" show in the style of Lucky Star. This isn't a bad thing when the writing is sharp, and this episode landed a few great jokes, but it's easy for shows like this to drag or become annoying when you're not particularly into the subject that's being discussed.
All in all, this isn't a bad show. It's not for everyone, and it isn't the best comedy of this season, but it's pretty entertaining. If you really like jokes about Japanese culture and anime, you'll probably love this one. To everyone else- check on Nyan Koi! instead. I'm going to keep on watching this one for a while regardless.
