For Japan

Ever since I turned on the television Friday morning and saw the news I’ve been trying the come to terms with what I saw, and continue to see. It is truly devastating. How does one even try to make sense of what is happening to our brothers and sisters in Japan? Media shows us how small the world is, and we are all collectively holding our breath watching events unfold in real time. Still, it is hard to shake this feeling of powerlessness.  That is why I was heartened to see there is an initiative by other Anime and Manga Bloggers to unite and raise money for Japan. I am adding my support to the mix; you can read about the initiative called Anime and Manga Bloggers for Japan here. The goal is to raise $2000 for two worthy charities: Doctors without Borders and Shelter Box.
I would also like to suggest support for World Vision. They have always quickly responded to disaster relief. They have a program to support children traumatized by disaster called “Child Friendly Spaces” that gives children a safe place to play, provide structured activities and receive help dealing with trauma and loss. Looking at the pictures of the evacuation centers and wide areas of total devastation I think this is something that is strongly needed. You can read more about World Vision and its programs here.

Japan, stay strong.
