FUNimation licenses Soul Eater.

FUNimation has announced that they've acquired the anime Soul Eater from Media Factory. It'll be released on DVD on Novemeber 17, 2009 according to the info available in this web page that also features a trailer.

This trailer is ridiculously cheesy and every time the announcer says "Shinigami-sama" is hilarious, but I guess that a show like this will sell regardless of how good or bad the trailer is. I've been waiting for this one to get licensed for a while, and a lot of other people have been waiting too ever since FUNimation sent out Cease and Desist letters back in November. I really hope that this series gets the Blu-ray treatment, judging from that trailer, this series would look fantastic in HD.

This whole thing is part of FUNimation's "New Show A-Go-Go" event. FUNimation had originally said that there was going to be one acquisiton for 10 days, but I guess that the distributing agreements went a lot more smoothly than they had anticipated and they just decided to go overboard with the announcements. The day still isn't over yet, and the Evangelion movie is anticipated to be FUNi's last announcement of the year.
